Canada's leader in decarbonizing natural gas

Cielo Carbon Solutions is the Canadian channel partner for CarbonQuest, the world’s first point source carbon capture technology for the built form. Capable of capturing up to 95% of CO2 in natural gas boilers and CoGen plants, the systems range from 1,000 to 100,000 tons of CO2 capacity per annum.

What We Offer

Cielo Carbon Solutions provides a turnkey solution to meet your climate change and emission reduction goals.

  • We oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and management of the system,
  • Facilitate the sale of the liquid carbon on your behalf into the recycled CO2 market, or
  • Permanently sequestering it into concrete or other alternatives.

System Overview

CarbonQuest systems are low risk, do not require onsite management, and their maintenance programs align with other standard pre-existing mechanical equipment.

  • Zero impact on in-place Boiler or CoGen equipment,
  • Generally, requires 900-5,000 SQF depending on system size,
  • Typically uses 20-25% of the electrical load of an all-electric alternative system,
  • Smaller systems can fit underground in parkades or basements, requiring 7’ or less clearance.

Mission

Together, we can immediately mitigate the CO2 emissions of large buildings and meet your 2030 CO2 emission reduction targets.

  • Hospitals, airports, Universities with District Heating, Industrial uses requiring large-scale natural gas, large office and residential buildings, and malls, are all suitable use cases for our Carbon Capture Solutions.
  • For most cases above, switching to all-electric systems is simply unfeasible.

Solutions to Emissions from Natural Gas: Building Carbon Capture

The four steps of the CarbonQuest process. How CO2 is extracted from the natural gas boiler system.

Extraction

CO2, O2, N2 and H2O are diverted from the gas flue during building operations and sent through a heat exchanger, compressor, and dryer, removing H2O before continuing to the separation phase.

Separation

The gasses move through an innovative pressure swing and sorping system that cycles out N2 and O2, releasing them back into the flue, as CO2 continues to the conversion phase.

Conversion

The CO2 gas stream then goes through liquefaction, where it's converted into liquid CO2 before being placed into a storage tank to await transfer.

Utilization

The liquid sustainable CO2™ is regularly transferred to customers who reduce emissions through utilization, enabling a circular carbon economy within the city.

Carbon Quest systems are already fully operational in New York City. The technology is patented, tested, and exceeding expectations.
